About the Contest
The My Garden My City contest for Abu Dhabi’s best home garden was launched in 2012 under the patronage of the Mother of our Nation, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).
The contest seeks to boost community social responsibility, improve quality of life through the establishment of sustainability standards for gardens across the Emirate, and raise community awareness about the importance of soft landscaping.

Raise stakeholders’ awareness in Abu Dhabi about the importance of soft landscaping with better and more sustainable maintenance of the Emirate’s natural resources.
My Garden My City is the first competition of its kind in the Emirate and aims to:
1- Encourage people to take more care of the city’s external appearance.
2- Drive people’s interest in the indoor/outdoor landscaping of their homes, and include use of trees and flowers.
3- Achieve environmental sustainability and more community involvement.
4- Use of modern gardening techniques
5- Develop gardening knowledge.
6- Promote good practice in gardening.
7- Preserve natural resources and minimise energy and water usage.
Winners of this year's competition will be eligible to participate in the 2020 edition, with prizes being awarded to winners from across the whole Emirate.
The third edition of My Garden My City will include the following categories:
1- Best Indoor Home Garden
2- Best Outdoor Home Garden
3- Best School Garden
