Abu Dhabi

HE Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi (DMT), inspected various areas in Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, following the intense rainfall that swept through the UAE the previous evening.

With a primary focus on infrastructure resilience and ensuring the city's continued functionality, HE Al Shorafa convened key officials and emergency response teams from Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City and Al Dhafra Region municipalities; as well as the capital’s emergency services at the Integrated Transport Centre’s Traffic Management Centre. The group discussed how best to tackle emerging challenges around the city; especially in the areas most affected.

During his citywide tour, HE Al Shorafa engaged directly with residents, businesses, and members of the public to gain valuable insights into their experiences and concerns. He also commended the diligent efforts of Abu Dhabi's emergency services, which worked throughout the night and early hours to minimise the impact of severe rainfall.

In line with safety messages issued by the relevant authorities on Monday morning, HE Al Shorafa urged the public to exercise caution and stay prepared during adverse weather conditions, and reassured the community that the DMT has a long-term, innovative plan to mitigate such incidents in the future.
