The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced the launch of the Al Ain Survey: The Future of Urban Development. Open until 20 April 2026, it offers the region’s citizens, residents, visitors, and businesses the opportunity to contribute to shaping Al Ain’s urban landscape.

Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts on what makes Al Ain distinctive — from its oases and deep-rooted traditions to its vibrant neighbourhoods — while also providing recommendations for improvement in areas that matter most to them. This will then be integrated into a comprehensive regional urban development framework and the Wasat Al Madina Revitalisation Plan, which will direct how land is used, what projects are delivered, what infrastructure is upgraded, how public spaces are designed, and how Al Ain’s cultural heritage is protected and celebrated as a cornerstone of its enduring legacy.

Reflecting on the importance of inclusive planning, His Excellency Eng Abdulla Al Blooshi, Director General, Urban Planning & Permits Centre at the DMT said: “Every idea shared through the  Al Ain Survey helps shape the region’s path forward, whether it comes from a resident or a visitor seeing its beauty for the first time. By drawing on these perspectives, we can ensure that our plans are driven by inclusive, well-informed decisions that meet emerging demands while being adaptive to evolving, long-term challenges.”
