Abu Dhabi

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) was presented with the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour recognition during a ceremony in Balkesir, Turkey, to commemorate the Global Observance of World Habitat Day.

UN-Habitat's Scroll of Honour recognizes individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to urban development, including improving the quality of urban life and ensuring affordable housing for all.

The recognition was bestowed on Abu Dhabi based on the emirate's success in achieving its pledges towards the Abu Dhabi Declared Actions announced at the 10th session of the World Urban Forum held in 2020.

Murat Kurum, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, awarded the certificate of appreciation to the DMT delegation represented by Hamda Al Hashmi, Acting Section Head - Urban Design, who thanked the UN and Turkish government officials on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government.

During the ceremony, UN-Habitat emphasized how the department supports the WUF agenda by creating a roadmap for other cities to impact societies and nations positively.
