Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi City Municipality carried out a field campaign at new construction sites across Abu Dhabi to ensure that safety requirements are in place for workers operating at heights. The campaign targeted construction companies and those responsible for managing site operations.
The initiative aimed to strengthen safety measures for workers in the construction sector, raise awareness of safety requirements when working at height, and highlight potential risks in order to prevent fall-related incidents.
Municipal inspectors verified compliance with safety requirements at construction sites, including the availability of fall protection systems, the use of personal fall-prevention equipment, inspection of work areas, identification of potential hazards, and the implementation of appropriate precautionary measures.
Site supervisors and workers were also reminded of the need to provide collective protection measures such as guardrails, protective boards, and safety nets.
In addition, inspectors stressed the importance of personal protective equipment, including full-body safety harnesses secured to safe anchor points, as well as appropriate helmets and safety footwear.
Inspectors further emphasised the importance of checking protection systems before use and ensuring that occupational safety equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to guarantee proper operation and worker safety, as routine maintenance helps prevent equipment failure and enhances workplace safety.
