Abu Dhabi City Municipality confirmed that beaches on Abu Dhabi Island and in nearby areas recorded strong visitor numbers during the first quarter of 2026, with a total of 410,616 visitors. This reflects the confidence of residents and visitors in the safe and well-maintained environments these destinations provide for leisure and relaxation.
The Municipality noted that Abu Dhabi’s modern beaches continue to strengthen their position as leading recreational and tourism destinations, offering a comprehensive and safe experience that caters to all segments of the community. This is supported by well-prepared facilities and high-quality services, contributing to improved quality of life and encouraging healthier, more sustainable lifestyles.
Visitor numbers across the beaches reflect the diversity of options available to the public. Corniche Beach recorded a total of 235,963 visitors during the first three months of the year, followed by Al Bateen Beach with 170,228 visitors, while beach pools attracted 4,425 visitors over the same period.
Night beaches also continued to grow in popularity as an innovative leisure option aligned with community preferences. The Corniche family beach recorded 14,514 visitors during the first quarter, while the Coastal beach on Abu Dhabi Corniche 12,084 visitors over the same period.
Engineer Majed Abdul Kathiri, Executive Director of the Operations and Maintenance Sector at Abu Dhabi City Municipality official noted that this growing footfall reflects public confidence in the quality of services and overall visitor experience, as well as the advanced facilities and safe environment provided.
The official added that Abu Dhabi’s beaches continue to see ongoing improvements in services and infrastructure, reflecting the Municipality’s commitment to delivering integrated, safe, and comfortable beach destinations for all.
The official further highlighted that several Abu Dhabi beaches have received the Blue Flag Award, an international recognition of compliance with the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental management. This achievement reinforces the status of Abu Dhabi’s beaches as sustainable destinations that meet global standards while offering a safe and high-quality visitor experience.
The Municipality places strong emphasis on visitor safety by providing qualified lifeguards and first responders across beaches, ensuring rapid response to emergencies and enhancing overall safety for visitors engaging in swimming and beach activities. Continuous monitoring of facilities and services is also carried out to ensure a comfortable and secure experience for all.
In addition, the Municipality is committed to improving accessibility for People of Determination by providing dedicated facilities and services that enable easy and comfortable access to beaches. It also continues to support community initiatives that ensure beaches are inclusive for all segments of society, including free beaches and a dedicated beach for the visually impaired.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues to implement enhancement and development works across its beaches, including upgrading facilities, improving infrastructure, and expanding public spaces and services. A wide range of amenities is provided, including food and beverage outlets, seating areas, sanitary facilities, and support services, ensuring a well-rounded beach experience suitable for both families and individuals.
