As part of its continuing efforts to promote public health and enhance the quality of services provided to children, Abu Dhabi City Municipality conducted an awareness and inspection campaign targeting owners and employees of children's salons across Abu Dhabi Island and the mainland. The campaign aimed to ensure the provision of a safe and hygienic environment that complies with the approved health and hygiene requirements governing commercial establishments.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness among salon owners and employees of the importance of complying with all approved health and hygiene requirements when providing services to children. It also emphasised the responsibility of establishments to maintain high standards of cleanliness and carry out regular cleaning and disinfection to help safeguard the health of children, employees and visitors, while preventing practices that could compromise public health and safety.
As part of the campaign, Municipality inspectors carried out field visits to a number of children's salons and establishments operating in this sector across various locations to verify their compliance with the health and hygiene requirements governing the activity. The inspections also assessed overall cleanliness, the implementation of routine cleaning and disinfection procedures, and employees' adherence to proper hygiene practices while providing services to children.
During the campaign, inspectors highlighted the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of all areas within the establishment, including facilities, equipment, tools and reception areas. They stressed that health and hygiene measures should be implemented consistently and not only during inspection visits.
The campaign also sought to increase awareness of the approved health and hygiene requirements applicable to children's salons and to highlight the importance of compliance in providing a safe and healthy environment while strengthening the confidence of families and visitors in the services provided. Establishments visited during the campaign were advised to address any observations identified during inspections and to continue implementing regular cleaning, maintenance and sanitation programmes across all facilities and equipment.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality affirmed that these awareness and inspection campaigns form part of an integrated programme aimed at ensuring commercial establishments comply with the approved health and hygiene standards and requirements, while strengthening cooperation with business owners and employees to improve service quality and safeguard public health and safety.
