To celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and enhance the spiritual and festive atmosphere, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has adorned approximately 4,600 illuminated decorations and light structures on numerous main streets and bridges across Abu Dhabi Island and the surrounding cities within its jurisdiction.
Municipal teams have installed Ramadan-themed decorations across various streets on Abu Dhabi Island, including the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, Sheikh Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street, and King Abdullah Street, in addition to several bridges and internal roads. Furthermore, decorative lighting has been placed along major streets in the outer cities and islands affiliated with Abu Dhabi.
This year, the municipality introduced new decorative elements, including suspended light curtains spanning streetlight poles. These chandelier-shaped structures are illuminated in white and sky blue and adorned with crescent moons and stars in a light pistachio-green hue.
The Abu Dhabi Corniche is distinguished by its extensive and diverse illuminated decorations. Special lighting devices have been utilized to create upper-level formations along the Corniche, adding an aesthetic touch through twinkling lights that alternate between activating and deactivating crescent and star formations. Additionally, 1,900 crescent and star-shaped light structures have been installed on the suspended lighting fixtures between streetlight poles, along with 1,900 illuminated chandeliers arranged in a square pattern. Al Maqta Bridge has also been adorned with upper-level and side decorations in pistachio green, complemented by suspended lighting featuring crescent and star formations integrated into the primary illumination.
Moreover, geometric lighting designs in shades of turquoise blue have been incorporated into the lower sections of streetlight poles, a signature feature of the Abu Dhabi Corniche. These geometrical formations stand out with their vibrant and captivating colors, reaching heights of over four meters. The decorations also include hundreds of twinkling light installations.
The illuminated structures feature widely recognized Ramadan greetings such as Ramadan Kareem and Month of Forgiveness, among others. Their designs are inspired by elements of nature, Islamic architecture, and traditional heritage, harmonizing with the spiritual essence of Ramadan and Emirati customs and traditions. Additionally, arch-shaped structures have been installed, integrated with a Ramadan cannon model that appears to launch a cascade of stars, crescents, and a hanging lantern.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality is committed to ensuring seamless lighting operation throughout the holy month by deploying a specialized and highly skilled technical team with extensive knowledge of contingency plans and emergency protocols. Furthermore, municipal teams have meticulously coordinated the placement of decorations to ensure harmony between the size of the structures and the dimensions of the streets and installation sites, prioritizing the safety of pedestrians and motorists alike.
