Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised an awareness event to mark National Environment Day, as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and strengthening environmental awareness within the construction sector. The initiative targeted newly established construction sites across the City of Abu Dhabi.
The event focused on consultants and contractors operating at construction sites, with the objective of reinforcing compliance with sound environmental practices, raising awareness of environmental protection, and mitigating the adverse environmental impacts associated with construction activities.
Through this initiative, the Municipality aims to enhance environmental awareness among entities working in the construction and building sector by emphasising the importance of removing environmental pollutants and construction waste from designated areas. The event also sought to actively engage developers, consultants, and contractors in assuming their environmental responsibilities, thereby supporting the development of a sustainable and safe urban environment.
The programme included a series of awareness and field-based activities, including:
• Implementing on-site campaigns to remove environmental pollutants and construction waste from specified locations.
• Providing guidance on best environmental practices at construction sites and effective methods to reduce environmental pollution.
• Highlighting the importance of proper construction and demolition waste management and strict compliance with approved environmental regulations and legislation in Abu Dhabi.
• Reinforcing the principles of partnership and shared environmental responsibility among municipal entities, developers, consultants, and contractors.
This initiative reflects Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s efforts to embed a culture of environmental sustainability within the construction sector and to reaffirm that environmental protection is a shared responsibility. Such efforts contribute to improving quality of life, preserving the city’s refined and orderly appearance, and ensuring a healthy and safe environment for present and future generations.
