Abu Dhabi City Municipality called on members of the community to strictly adhere to barbecuing in the designated areas allocated for this purpose across parks and recreational areas in Abu Dhabi and the mainland. The Municipality stressed the importance of community participation in preserving the civilised public appearance, protecting public recreational facilities, and complying with responsible behaviours that ensure the sustainability of these facilities, which were established to bring happiness to the community and provide family-friendly recreational destinations that meet the expectations of residents and visitors.
This came as part of its periodic awareness campaign “Darna, Our Responsibility”, which aims to enhance community responsibility in complying with the regulations governing the use of parks and recreational facilities, with particular emphasis on barbecue mechanisms and behaviours. The campaign encourages visitors to adopt practices that help preserve these recreational spaces, specifically protecting green areas, trees, and the components and assets of public parks.
Maintaining Park Cleanliness
During the campaign, the Municipality urged park visitors to contribute to maintaining park cleanliness, refrain from disposing of barbecue waste randomly, and ensure that barbecue remnants and burnt charcoal are placed in the designated concrete containers. This is intended to protect the environment, achieve the highest safety standards in parks, and at the same time enhance the overall appearance of recreational facilities.
Field Visits
The campaign included conducting field visits to parks, engaging directly with park visitors, raising awareness on this matter, and guiding them towards positive practices while barbecuing in parks. It also highlighted the impact of adhering to such constructive behaviours on the sustainability of public and recreational facilities, and on preserving their beauty and general appearance.
Reflecting the Values of the Year of the Family
It is worth noting that Abu Dhabi City Municipality, with the aim of bringing happiness to the community and in line with the standards and values of the Year of the Family, continues to expand the map of barbecue-ready locations within parks to provide recreational destinations for all family members. The Municipality ensures that these areas are fully equipped with all requirements, such as designated concrete barbecue platforms, concrete containers for barbecue waste and burnt charcoal, and waste bins.
The Municipality currently provides numerous barbecue locations across Abu Dhabi and the mainland in several parks, offering the best options for visitors to enjoy premium services in line with standards for preserving the public appearance, protecting the environment, and achieving sustainability.
