In an effort to uphold the standards set forth for the Year of Sustainability 2023, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, via the Department of Environment, Health, and Safety, in collaboration with the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, hosted an informative workshop on Abu Dhabi's governmental entities guide titled "A Government Free of Disposable Materials.
The workshop was oriented towards inspiring both employees and the community to prioritize environmental conservation, particularly regarding the use of single-use plastics. This initiative aligns with the mandate announced by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi effective June 1, 2022, outlining a comprehensive guide on the required procedures for government agencies
in Abu Dhabi to achieve the goal of disposable-free governance. This guide elucidates the steps and procedures necessary for adherence to this goal, and provides government agencies and employees with strategies for implementing the guide's stipulations, such as reducing the usage of single-use plastics and non-plastics and transitioning to versatile alternatives with minimal environmental impact.
The workshop also emphasized the concept of sustainability and ways of implementing it to conserve the environment by fostering a culture of using eco-friendly materials.
It underscored the importance of elevating employee awareness on the "Government Free of Single-use Items" guide, ensuring a committed effort towards waste reduction.
