Under the slogan “Our Safe Summer”, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has implemented a comprehensive awareness and inspection campaign targeting owners and employees of game and entertainment centres across Abu Dhabi Island and beyond. The campaign forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance public health and safety standards and raise compliance with health requirements in entertainment facilities, particularly during the summer season, which sees increased demand from children and families.
The campaign covered all indoor electronic game and entertainment centres, including facilities located inside and outside shopping centres. Municipal inspectors carried out field surveys and intensive inspection campaigns to verify compliance with the approved guidelines and health requirements related to general cleanliness, as well as regular sanitisation, cleaning, and disinfection of games, devices, and surfaces used by the public.
The campaign focused on raising awareness among centre owners and employees of the importance of periodic maintenance of entertainment devices and equipment, given its vital role in ensuring user safety and reducing potential risks. It also emphasised the need to maintain a healthy and safe environment within these facilities, strengthening visitor confidence and providing a reassuring entertainment experience for all members of the community.
The inspection procedures also included verifying the readiness of first-aid kits and ensuring that they contain all necessary materials to deal with emergency cases. In addition, samples and swabs were taken from surfaces in facilities where observations or non-compliance with health requirements were identified, with the aim of taking the appropriate corrective measures.
The “Our Safe Summer” campaign forms part of Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s efforts to embed a culture of prevention and safety in entertainment facilities, while strengthening the responsibility of facility owners and employees towards the health and safety of community members. These efforts contribute to providing a safe and sustainable entertainment environment that meets the highest standards of quality and public health.
