As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety and enhance compliance with the occupational health and safety requirements adopted across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised a specialised workshop for companies operating in the construction sector.
The workshop targeted contractors and companies that have recently obtained approval for their Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. It aimed to familiarise participants with the requirements of the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework (OSHAD) and the mechanisms for implementing them in accordance with the nature of their activities and the level of risk associated with construction sites.
The workshop provided an overview of the framework, its organisational structure, and the roles and responsibilities of companies. It also introduced the electronic performance system and explained the procedures for reporting incidents and submitting mandatory forms through the electronic platform, supporting effective monitoring, regulatory oversight and the automation of operational processes.
Participants also engaged in discussions on best practices and the challenges associated with implementing occupational health and safety requirements, particularly in relation to electronic compliance monitoring. The workshop provided an opportunity to address participants’ enquiries and explore practical solutions that support effective implementation and enhance operational efficiency.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality emphasised that compliance with occupational health and safety requirements is a shared responsibility that protects workers on construction sites and members of the community, while supporting efforts to uphold the highest standards of safety. The Municipality noted that the workshop forms part of its ongoing commitment to supporting newly approved companies by equipping them with the knowledge and guidance required to understand and implement occupational health and safety requirements effectively. These efforts contribute to improving performance across the construction sector, strengthening a culture of prevention and compliance, and fostering a safer and more sustainable working environment.
