The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through the Urban Planning Sector - Environment, Health, and Safety Department, organized a virtual workshop titled "Safety in the Heat - Lessons Learned," aimed at reviewing the positive impacts and lessons learned from implementing the law banning work at construction sites during midday hours over the summer.
The workshop included participation from several representatives of construction and building companies operating in Abu Dhabi. It highlighted the benefits of enforcing the midday work ban law and the positive effects on the health and safety of individuals working under the sun in exposed areas.
The workshop featured a lecture on the lessons learned from the midday work ban law, which prohibits work under direct sunlight in open areas from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, and lasted for three months (from June 15 to September 15). It also reviewed best practices implemented by companies in the construction sector during the summer and included discussions aimed at raising awareness among construction workers about safety requirements in hot conditions.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, represented by the Environment, Health, and Safety Department, was keen to carry out numerous inspection and awareness campaigns during this period across construction sites within its geographical jurisdiction. The goal was to ensure compliance with the midday work ban law and to verify that construction companies were providing necessary safety measures to protect workers' health and safety.
