The Abu Dhabi City Municipality is intensifying its efforts to curb the phenomenon of graffiti and enhance the city's beauty in line with Abu Dhabi's ongoing urban and cultural development. This is achieved through awareness campaigns targeting all segments of society, focusing on property owners and school students. The goal is to foster a socially responsible generation that contributes to eliminating negative behaviors and preserving the city's aesthetic appearance.
The municipality has organized field campaigns through its branch offices and municipal presence centers across all areas within its jurisdiction to strengthen these efforts Under the title: Abu Dhabi's Walls Are More Beautiful.
These campaigns, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Emirates Schools Establishment, and ICAD Labor City, aim to maintain the city’s aesthetic by preventing graffiti and activating volunteer roles among community members to reduce this phenomenon and its negative impacts.
As part of these efforts, the City Center Municipality organized a field campaign targeting property owners within its jurisdiction to raise awareness about maintaining clean external walls and removing graffiti or defacing drawings to preserve the city's cultural and aesthetic appearance.
Similarly, the Shahamah Municipality Center conducted field visits to several schools within its geographical area, including awareness workshops for students on the importance of maintaining the city's aesthetic appearance by refraining from graffiti and avoiding such negative behaviors. The workshops also included information on public appearance laws and Abu Dhabi City Municipality's guidelines.
The Al Wathba Municipality Center organized a similar field campaign, including visits to several schools to educate students on the importance of preserving the city's appearance by preventing graffiti. Meanwhile, the Baniyas Municipal Community Center organized a campaign targeting school students within its jurisdiction. This campaign included awareness lectures for students, highlighting the phenomenon of graffiti, its causes, effects, and the damage caused by its spread, as well as ways to reduce it to maintain the city's aesthetic appearance.
For its part, the Zayed City Municipality Center, in cooperation with the Musaffah Municipality Center, organized a joint campaign at Darwish bin Karam School aimed at raising students' awareness about the importance of preserving the city's aesthetic appearance by avoiding graffiti on walls. The campaign also sought to promote social responsibility, guide students towards positive practices that enhance the general appearance, preserve public and recreational facilities, and positively contribute to achieving sustainability values in all of these facilities.
Digital campaigns complemented these field campaigns through the municipality's official social media accounts and the "Freejna" app, where several posts were published to raise community awareness about enhancing and preserving the city's appearance by preventing graffiti and contributing to reducing and eliminating this phenomenon.
