Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has carried out a field awareness campaign to reduce the practice of informal vehicle washing in unlicensed areas, as part of the “Our Home: Our Responsibility” campaign. The initiative aims to raise community awareness of the importance of preserving the city’s overall aesthetic and urban appearance, while reducing negative practices that affect quality of life within neighbourhoods and residential areas.
The campaign targeted community members across various age groups, highlighting the negative impacts of washing vehicles in improper and undesignated locations. Such practices may lead to water accumulating on roads and walkways, affecting the city’s urban and aesthetic appearance and posing potential risks to public health.
The campaign included field visits to a number of residential areas to engage directly with community members and provide awareness guidance and advice. It also featured awareness workshops for the public across various locations, focusing on the adverse effects of these uncivilised practices and the role of each individual in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
During the campaign, municipal inspectors informed target groups that informal vehicle washing may cause nearby vehicles to become dirty due to splashing water when vehicles pass through accumulated water. They also highlighted the inconvenience caused to residents and the impact of such practices on the urban environment within residential areas, stressing the importance of using licensed and designated vehicle washing services.
The campaign forms part of Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s commitment to strengthening social responsibility and promoting positive behaviours among community members. It aligns with the Municipality’s objectives and ongoing efforts to preserve Abu Dhabi’s urban appearance and support the provision of a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment for all.
