Abu Dhabi

As part of its community awareness initiatives, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised an event entitled “Sustainable Beaches” at Al Bateen Beach, in collaboration with Tornado Total Landscape LLC, the beach operator. Targeting beachgoers and school students, the event sought to promote sustainable environmental practices and preserve natural resources and public facilities.
The event aimed to raise visitors’ awareness of the importance of preserving beaches and protecting them from practices that could adversely affect the environment. It also introduced participants to the sustainable practices and applications implemented at the beach, thereby encouraging community members to adopt positive and responsible behaviours that support environmental protection.
The event featured a range of awareness and interactive activities through which participants learnt about the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of beaches and their facilities, as well as the role each individual can play in contributing to their sustainability. It also showcased several sustainable practices implemented at the beach and their impact on reducing environmental effects and enhancing the efficiency of the facilities and services provided to visitors.
The event featured an interactive question-and-answer session and competitions, with gifts presented to participants. These activities helped increase participation, particularly among school students, and encouraged them to translate sustainability principles into positive everyday practices.
The “Sustainable Beaches” event forms part of Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s efforts to promote a culture of sustainability, strengthen community partnerships in environmental protection and preserve beaches as sustainable natural and recreational facilities for present and future generations, thereby enhancing quality of life and supporting a sustainable urban environment in Abu Dhabi City.
