In its continuous effort to enhance the road network to meet top international safety specifications, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in collaboration with the Infrastructure Sector and Municipal Assets, has painted the asphalt surface red in seven different areas. This initiative within its jurisdiction aims to introduce new speed limits, improve road safety, alert drivers to speed limit changes, and elevate the aesthetic and civic appearance of the infrastructure. Furthermore, it underscores a commitment to sustainability and an improved quality of life.
The project involved painting the asphalt red in seven distinct locations, covering nearly 5,300 square meters. Within this "red carpet" area, lines were repainted over an expanse of 1,980 square meters. Speed limit signs were positioned at both the start and finish of the red sections. Additionally, designs for 200 contrasting decorative elements, spanning 100 square meters, were removed
Detailed work included painting red carpets at various locations to indicate speed reductions. On Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (E-22) at Sas Al Nakhl towards Abu Dhabi, the speed was reduced from 120 to 100 km/h. On Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road (E-311) at the Sweihan Bridge intersection towards Bani Yas, the speed decreased from 140 to 120 km/h. On the same road (E-311) from Baniyas Cemetery towards Bani Yas, the speed was adjusted from 120 to 100 km/h. Lastly, on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (E-10) from Sheikh Zayed Bridge towards Abu Dhabi, the speed was reduced from 120 to 100 km/h.
Moreover, the work involved painting red carpets on Sweihan Road (E-20) from Al Falah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi International Airport, indicating a speed reduction from 140 to 120 km/h. On Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street (E-12) between Al Jubail Island and Saadiyat Island towards Abu Dhabi, the speed was reduced from 140 to 120 km/h. These roads, designed and constructed to the highest international benchmarks, not only ensure user safety but also align with the ongoing cultural and infrastructural advancements in Abu Dhabi.
