Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through the Directorate of Environment, Health and Safety, conducted an online workshop via Microsoft Teams for consultants and construction companies. The workshop aimed to inform participants about the requirements of Abu Dhabi’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the mechanisms for supervising the implementation of such a system. This included periodical reporting, activity, and auditing reports. The workshop also covered other topics related to the environment, health, and safety at construction sites. This workshop was specifically designed for English speakers.
In this regard, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organizes several educational workshops throughout the year to raise awareness about the requirements of Abu Dhabi's Occupational Health and Safety System, while the Municipality is currently the main regulator in the construction sector. The Municipality’s strategic goal regarding these workshops is to maintain the health and safety of workers in the construction sector, this is due to the sector's activities, which require high compliance with regulations and precautions, compared to other sectors and enterprises.
The workshop accumulated its efforts on promoting a unified culture among the contractors newly accredited by the Directorate of Health and Safety. The goal was to integrate them with the existing culture of construction sector workers, particularly in the following areas:
- Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System and System Framework (OSHAD SF)
- The role and obligations of the establishments in implementing the Abu Dhabi Occupational Health and Safety System according to the respective risk classification.
- Introducing the Electronic Performance System for the Abu Dhabi Occupational Health and Safety System, which includes (ways to report accidents, and upload mandatory forms in the electronic system based on the Abu Dhabi Occupational Health and Safety System).
The workshop organizers were very keen to interact with the audience and respond to their questions regarding the Environment, Health and Safety requirements at the workplace, and challenges regarding the automation of the website’s and relevant application’s administration.
