To foster positive behaviours that support the beauty of the city and the sustainability of its environment, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised the “Our City is More Beautiful” event at Rabdan Park and Al Wathba Park, with the participation of several government, educational and community entities. The event aimed to raise awareness among school students and community members of the importance of preserving the city’s overall appearance, reducing visual blight and negative practices, and encouraging community participation in creating a clean, safe and sustainable urban environment.
At Al Wathba Park, the “Our City is More Beautiful” event was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, Civil Defence, the Institute of Applied Technology, the National Archives, the Creative Media Authority, the library affiliated with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The event featured a range of interactive community and awareness activities delivered in collaboration with the participating entities through information stands, workshops, accessible lectures, practical experiences and interactive activities targeting different age groups. These activities enabled participants to learn about practical behaviours and practices that they could adopt in their daily lives to help protect the environment and preserve the beauty of the city. The programme focused on fostering the values of cooperation, belonging and responsibility and strengthening community participation.
At Rabdan Park, an educational and recreational event was organised in collaboration with Tadweer Group and Future Leaders School. It featured awareness workshops on recycling materials and waste and the importance of recycling in preserving the environment and the city’s overall appearance, alongside an introductory session on agriculture and its role in expanding green spaces and enhancing the urban landscape.
The event also featured a practical activity involving the collection of waste and the maintenance of cleanliness in public spaces, reinforcing among participants the value of individual initiative and responsibility towards their surrounding environment. Awareness and recreational competitions were also organised, with prizes presented to participants in an atmosphere combining learning, engagement and entertainment.
The event was organised as part of Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s commitment to promoting the principle that the beauty of the city is a shared responsibility and that preserving public facilities and the urban environment begins with the positive daily practices of every individual. This contributes to enhancing quality of life, safeguarding the city’s achievements and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s image as a city distinguished by its cleanliness, beauty and sustainability.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues to implement awareness initiatives and programmes that strengthen engagement with community members and partners and foster a culture of shared responsibility towards the city and its environment. This reflects the Municipality’s belief that a city’s appearance is an expression of its community’s awareness and culture, and that every positive action contributes to making our city more beautiful, sustainable and conducive to a high quality of life.
