As part of its ongoing efforts to improve quality of life and protect the appearance of the city and its environment, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has held a campaign to raise awareness among owners of residential plots, farms and country houses about the proper disposal of farm waste and rubbish. This aims to build positive, environmentally responsible habits in dealing with farm waste and rubbish, and to reduce practices that could have a negative effect on the environment and the general appearance of the city.
The campaign was carried out in cooperation with Tadweer Group and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, as part of joined-up efforts among relevant bodies aimed at spreading good environmental practices and encouraging the responsible use of resources, helping to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
The campaign included an awareness workshop titled "Towards Green Farming Without Waste," which covered a number of important topics, most notably guidance on sorting green waste and dealing with it properly, the environmental and health risks caused by disposing of farm waste in an unplanned way, and information on the relevant environmental laws and regulations.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable practices on farms, in country houses and on residential plots, and of separating farm waste and disposing of it through approved channels and methods. This helps reduce the negative effects on the environment and public health, and supports the appearance of residential and farming areas.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality stressed that protecting the environment and the general appearance of the city is a shared responsibility that calls for cooperation from all members of the community and relevant bodies. It highlighted the importance of following good practices in managing farm waste and avoiding unplanned disposal, in support of efforts to achieve sustainability goals and maintain a healthy and safe environment.
The campaign reflects the Municipality's commitment to raising community awareness of the importance of keeping facilities, assets and heritage landmarks clean, and to strengthening the sense of responsibility that members of the community have towards their surrounding environment, by reducing any activity, neglect or dumping of waste that could damage or spoil the general appearance of Abu Dhabi, including residential areas, farms and country houses.
Through its "Our Home Is Our Responsibility" campaigns, Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues to build a culture of community responsibility and to establish positive habits that help protect the environment and maintain the distinctive appearance for which Abu Dhabi is known, working towards a cleaner, more beautiful and more sustainable city for current and future generations.
