As part of its Our Home, Our Responsibility – Our Neighbourhood Defines Us' campaign, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched a field awareness campaign encouraging members of the public to help preserve Abu Dhabi's distinctive appearance by refraining from leaving vehicles and boats abandoned in public spaces. The campaign forms part of the Municipality's ongoing efforts to raise community awareness of the importance of maintaining the city's appearance and reducing behaviours that affect quality of life and detract from the character of neighbourhoods and public spaces.
The initiative targeted all members of the community, including vehicle and boat owners, operators of commercial and public facilities, residents of neighbourhoods and visitors to public spaces. It sought to foster a stronger sense of shared civic responsibility by emphasising that preserving the cleanliness and appearance of the city is a collective duty, beginning with every individual ensuring that vehicles and boats are not left unattended in public squares, parking areas, public facilities or residential neighbourhoods.
The campaign also highlighted the consequences of leaving vehicles of all types and boats unattended for prolonged periods without maintenance or cleaning. Such practices not only detract from the city's appearance but can also affect the smooth flow of traffic, restrict access to public facilities, and create environmental and public health concerns through the accumulation of dust, debris and waste around neglected vehicles and boats.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality affirmed that the campaign forms part of its continuing efforts to address elements that detract from the city's appearance while encouraging positive behaviours that contribute to a higher quality of life and help maintain a safe, clean and sustainable environment. These efforts reflect Abu Dhabi's standing as a world-class city renowned for its exceptional standards of liveability.
The Municipality also called upon members of the public to cooperate by ensuring that vehicles and boats are not abandoned in public areas and by taking the necessary steps to relocate, maintain or dispose of them in accordance with the approved procedures. It stressed that public cooperation remains essential to preserving the city's appearance and maintaining the quality of its public spaces.
The campaign concluded by reaffirming that preserving Abu Dhabi's distinctive appearance is both a shared civic responsibility and a daily practice that reflects the community's awareness and commitment to ensuring that the capital remains a clean, attractive and safe city for everyone.
