As part of its ongoing efforts to promote positive behaviours and preserve the city’s public appearance, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised the “Little Inspector” awareness initiative across a number of locations, including Al Bahia Park, Al Samih Square, Al Fath School in Baniyas, and Al Shawamekh Park. The initiative targeted school students and members of the community, in collaboration with Al Fath School, Apollonia Medical Centre, and Tadweer Group.
The activities, which were organized across multiple locations, included a simplified explanation of the role of the municipal inspector in a manner suited to the targeted age group, along with field tours inside the parks to introduce students to improper behaviors that affect public facilities and the overall appearance.
The initiative forms part of the Municipality’s commitment to raising awareness among younger generations of the importance of maintaining public facilities, reducing visual pollution, and strengthening social responsibility, thereby contributing to environmental protection and enhancing the overall appearance of Abu Dhabi.
The programme featured a range of interactive workshops and activities, including a practical learning session where children were introduced to model representations of public facilities such as parks, seating, and lighting. Participants were guided on proper placement and usage, reinforcing the message that these shared assets must be protected and used responsibly.
A workshop entitled “Colours Without Distortion” introduced children to purposeful graffiti art through guided painting on designated surfaces, highlighting the distinction between creative expression that enhances the city and random markings that detract from its appearance. The activity aimed to channel children’s creativity into positive artistic practices that support the improvement of public spaces.
To promote environmental sustainability, the initiative also included a “Creative Recycling Lab”, where children transformed simple waste materials into useful items for public spaces, such as decorative bins. This activity reinforced awareness of recycling and encouraged active participation in environmental protection and waste reduction.
At Al Shawamekh Park, additional awareness activities were delivered for students, focusing on the importance of preserving public appearance and reducing visual pollution. The programme included a simplified introduction to the role of municipal inspectors, a guided field tour within the park to identify improper behaviours affecting public facilities, a group clean-up activity to encourage teamwork, and an educational video highlighting responsible use of public spaces.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality emphasised the importance of investing in children’s awareness as key partners in building a sustainable urban environment. The initiative contributed to strengthening students’ understanding of cleanliness, respect for public spaces, and the protection of shared facilities, while encouraging the adoption of positive behaviours that benefit the wider community.
