The Municipality has stated that dozens of its parks and gardens feature hundreds of designated barbecue areas, with approximately 253 barbecue spots available across 28 parks and recreational areas on and off Abu Dhabi Island, meeting the public's needs in various regions.
The Municipality noted that Abu Dhabi Island has numerous parks and gardens with barbecue facilities, including the Official Garden, Old Airport Garden, Family Garden 1, Family Garden 2, Heritage Garden, Heritage Garden 4, Heritage Garden 5, Al Zafaranah Garden, Dolphin Garden, Al Nuzha Garden, Arabian Gulf Garden 1, Arabian Gulf Garden 2, Al Broom Garden, Al Mazoon Garden (Qurm Beach), and Al Nawfal Garden.
In Khalifa City, barbecue spots are available at Al Jouri Garden, Art Garden, and Al Urqaan Garden, as well as at Al Qadi Garden, Al Bayraq Garden, Burjeel Garden, Al Shamkha Square, and Lantern Garden in Al Shamkha City. Additional barbecue areas for recreational vehicles can be found in Rabdan Park, Al Rahba Square, Al Wathba Park, and Al Salmiya Park.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality invites the public to adhere to designated barbecue areas and to enjoy the facilities in a manner that promotes sustainability and contributes to maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the gardens and parks, as well as the clean health environment they offer, ensuring their efficiency as sources of well-being and happiness for the community.
To preserve the overall appearance of the parks and gardens, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through all its branches, has organized a comprehensive awareness campaign titled "Enjoy Your Barbecue and Preserve Your Space." This initiative covers all areas and cities within the Municipality's jurisdiction. It aims to raise community awareness, instill positive values, and enhance social responsibility among visitors to recreational and public facilities regarding maintaining the general appearance and involving community members in protecting these amenities established for enjoyment.
During the campaign, the Municipality's teams encouraged park and garden visitors to use designated barbecue areas and to care for public assets. The Municipality has provided hundreds of concrete barbecue platforms in the parks and gardens, allowing patrons to enjoy barbecuing in a safe environment. It has also supplied designated containers for disposing of barbecue waste and used charcoal, ensuring no harm to these facilities' green spaces and trees.
The campaign also included the dissemination of numerous awareness materials through the Municipality's official social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) and on the "Fareejna" application, urging the public to barbecue in designated areas to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and environment of public facilities.
