Abu Dhabi

As part of its efforts to encourage the workforce and community members to play an active role in maintaining the city’s public appearance, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised a community initiative titled “We Care for Our City” at Al Sadeera Labour Accommodation – ICAD 1, in collaboration with the Labour Accommodation Authority, Life Care Hospital, and Al Madina Hypermarket.
The initiative aimed to strengthen engagement with the workforce and involve them in achieving the Municipality’s objectives in preserving the city’s appearance, while raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection, reducing pollution, and conserving energy resources.
The programme featured a series of awareness and educational workshops, including a session highlighting the role of workers in supporting the Municipality’s goals in maintaining the city’s public appearance. Participants were introduced to the most common violations and guided on how to avoid them.
A further awareness session was delivered in alignment with Earth Day, observed annually on 22 April, focusing on the importance of protecting the planet through reducing environmental pollutants, conserving energy, and lowering carbon emissions.
The initiative also included medical check-ups for workers, organised in collaboration with strategic partners, in addition to recreational competitions and engagement activities, with prizes distributed to participants and winners.
A similar event was also carried out in one of the workers’ accommodations in the Qarn Yafour area, which included a workshop to raise workers’ awareness of the importance of maintaining the general appearance, and explaining the types of violations related to littering, in order to maintain the quality of life in the workers’ accommodations. The event also included a workshop on recycling paper newspapers, plastic bags and car tires.
