In preparation for the new school year, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through its Infrastructure and Municipal Assets Sector, has completed developmental and improvement works on streets and areas surrounding various schools within its geographic jurisdiction, both on and off Abu Dhabi Island. The aim is to enhance the quality of roads to facilitate traffic flow, ease the movement of community members, protect students and road users from potential risks, maintain infrastructure, and enhance the urban and aesthetic appearance of areas around educational institutions.
The works included a number of streets and areas inside and outside Abu Dhabi Island, including: Khalifa Bin Zayed the First Street, the area surrounding Hamdan Bin Zayed School in Al Mushrif West, Al Jaz’a Street, Sas Al Nakhl area, the vicinity of Al Raha International School - Khalifa City Complex, the Italian International School, and the James American Academy in Khalifa City, in addition to the Applied Technology High Schools - Bani Yas Branch, Al Khatim Girls School in Al Khatim, Al Taroush Bridge and some roundabouts in Shakhbout City, and the area surrounding Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan Mosque and the Holy Quran Memorization Center in Rabdan.
The targeted areas witnessed various developmental, and improvement works, including: road and parking lot asphalt maintenance, replacement of pedestrian walkway tiles in several areas, maintenance of erosion effects on roads near and leading to some schools, provision of additional parking spaces for parents and visitors around several schools, and maintenance of signage, road markings, and curbstones, along with the reinstallation of ground markings.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality reaffirms its continued efforts to enhance sustainability standards and quality of life by implementing developmental and improvement projects in various areas within its geographic scope, preserving infrastructure, and enhancing the aesthetic appearance, in line with the urban and architectural development Abu Dhabi is experiencing.
