Abu Dhabi City Municipality will mark Emirati Women’s Day tomorrow, Friday, through a series of community events across several areas of Abu Dhabi. Held this year under the theme ‘We Rise Stronger and Better’, the events will recognise Emirati women’s vital role and contributions to society while promoting their active participation across all areas of development.
These initiatives align with the UAE’s approach to supporting and empowering women. They also form part of the Year of the Family 2026, which reinforces the family’s position as the foundation of a cohesive and prosperous society and highlights the importance of the complementary roles played by members of society in building a more sustainable future and enhancing quality of life. The events also reflect Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s commitment to strengthening community engagement and delivering initiatives that support families, empower their members and embed the values of social cohesion and community participation.
His Excellency Ahmed Fadhel Almehairbi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said:
“Emirati Women’s Day is a national occasion on which we celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and reflect on the role they have played, and continue to play, in the UAE’s journey as essential partners in development and in shaping the future. This year’s theme, ‘We Rise Stronger and Better’, embodies an enduring Emirati spirit founded on the belief that achievement is not a final destination, but a catalyst for continued ambition and progress, and that the strength of society stems from the strength of its members and the complementary nature of their roles.
“At Abu Dhabi City Municipality, we believe that supporting women and strengthening their participation begins with a society that values their contributions, gives them the space to demonstrate their capabilities and reinforces their role within the family and the wider community. Guided by this principle, we remain committed to delivering community initiatives that place people and families at the heart of our priorities, enhance quality of life and provide opportunities for communication, learning and the exchange of experience. This reflects our vision of a cohesive society in which every individual contributes to Abu Dhabi’s journey towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.”
The series of events, taking place tomorrow at Rosewood Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island, the Municipal Community Centre Majlis in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Deerfields Mall in Al Shahama and the tent opposite the Municipal Community Centre in Baniyas, will feature a diverse range of awareness-raising, cultural and health-related activities. The events are being organised in collaboration with several government and private-sector entities and community organisations.
The events will address a range of themes reflecting the diverse roles and contributions of women. They will include workshops on Emirati etiquette, heritage and traditional crafts, as well as panel discussions exploring women’s roles and participation across various fields. The programme will also showcase inspiring experiences and success stories from a number of businesswomen, helping to encourage younger generations to pursue ambition, excellence and innovation.
The events will also feature a comprehensive health and safety awareness component, including workshops on home safety and community health, alongside medical consultations, guidance and complimentary health screenings for female visitors. These activities will help raise health awareness and enhance quality of life. Interactive activities and competitions will also be organised for members of the community, while several women will be honoured in recognition of their dedication, achievements and contributions to society.
The participation of numerous government and private-sector entities and community organisations in delivering these events underscores the importance of community partnerships in achieving sustainable impact. It also demonstrates the value of coordinated efforts to provide integrated initiatives that respond to society’s needs and strengthen communication and engagement among its various segments.
Partners include the General Women’s Union, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, Family Development Foundation, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Women Police and Community Police, alongside several healthcare institutions and private-sector organisations.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues its efforts to strengthen community participation, support families and enhance quality of life through initiatives that place the needs of individuals at the forefront of its priorities. These initiatives provide a supportive environment for communication, engagement and participation, contributing to the development of a cohesive and prosperous society while reflecting the UAE’s values and its approach to empowering women and advancing their role in the development journey.
This year’s Emirati Women’s Day celebrations, held under the theme ‘We Rise Stronger and Better’, reaffirm the remarkable achievements of Emirati women and their continuing role in supporting the UAE’s ongoing development and progress.
