Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, and Tornado Total Landscape L.L.C., organised the “Beach Safety” event, aiming to raise awareness among school students and visitors to Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach about the criteria of the Blue Flag Award and key beach safety requirements. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that beachgoers enjoy a safe, high-quality, and memorable beach experience.
During the event, the Municipality focused on educating school students about the importance of following safety measures when visiting the beach, in order to protect themselves and others while swimming and using beach facilities. Awareness activities included guidance on reading instructional signage, seeking assistance from lifeguards and security staff, understanding the meanings of beach warning flags and the importance of observing them while swimming, as well as basic first aid procedures in the event of injuries. The programme also featured an awareness lecture on marine safety, including practical guidance on safe swimming practices and essential rules to follow when visiting the beach.
The event further provided students with information on heat stress, dehydration, sun protection, safe swimming practices, and necessary precautions for children while swimming. These efforts aim to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all beach users, reduce the risk of accidents, and promote awareness of the importance of preserving the natural beach environment and disposing of waste responsibly.
