As part of its commitment to promoting public health and safeguarding community wellbeing, Abu Dhabi City Municipality carried out a field awareness campaign targeting men’s barbershops and women’s beauty centres across Abu Dhabi City and the mainland. The campaign aimed to ensure these establishments comply with approved health requirements and standards, while raising awareness among owners and staff about the importance of applying best health practices.
The campaign lasted ten days, during which municipal inspectors conducted around 300 inspection visits to a number of men’s barbershops and women’s beauty centres. This forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to monitor the compliance of non-food service establishments with public health and safety requirements, particularly those related to general hygiene and the sterilisation of tools and equipment used in beauty services, thereby helping to limit the spread of diseases. The campaign also complements a series of awareness and inspection initiatives implemented by the Municipality to reinforce compliance with health standards and strengthen preventive practices within the sector.
The campaign included several awareness and regulatory measures, most notably verifying full compliance with approved health requirements and standards, monitoring the implementation of precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of diseases, and providing on-site guidance to owners and staff on the best health practices to be followed. Warnings were also issued and violations recorded against non-compliant establishments in accordance with approved procedures.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality emphasised that compliance with health requirements in barbershops and beauty centres is a shared responsibility between regulatory authorities, business owners, and employees. The Municipality stressed the importance of sterilising tools after each use, maintaining high levels of hygiene and sanitation within establishments, and fully adhering to approved health regulations.
The Municipality noted that these efforts form part of its ongoing plans to strengthen the public health system and enhance quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with its mission to promote sound health practices within the community, ensure establishments comply with the laws and regulations governing their activities, and achieve the highest health and safety standards in this vital sector.
