Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues its efforts to enhance workplace standards within the construction sector and strengthen the safety of workers and the wider community through a field campaign carried out across a number of construction sites, alongside an awareness workshop targeting companies operating in the sector across Abu Dhabi City and its surrounding areas.
The campaign aimed to promote compliance with fire prevention requirements, embed a culture of safety across construction sites, and reduce potential risks through intensified field monitoring and awareness of approved regulations and requirements. These efforts contribute to protecting lives and property while supporting business continuity in line with the highest standards of safety and security.
The campaign included verifying the availability, readiness, and suitability of fire alarm systems and firefighting equipment according to the nature of each site. Workers and site supervisors were also briefed on the importance of complying with construction laws and public safety requirements. Appropriate measures were taken in cases of non-compliance, ranging from awareness guidance to warnings and violations where necessary.
Municipal teams focused on several key areas, including the safe storage of flammable materials, regular maintenance of equipment and machinery, inspection of electrical connections, prevention of waste burning within sites, and ensuring that waste is segregated and removed through approved companies.
As part of its awareness efforts, the Municipality organised a dedicated workshop for companies operating in the construction sector. The workshop addressed fire prevention requirements at construction sites and the role of companies, contractors, and consultants in enhancing site safety and protecting workers. It also highlighted best practices for handling flammable materials, providing fire alarm systems and firefighting equipment, and applying Civil Defence requirements for temporary facilities.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality affirmed that these efforts form part of its preventive and awareness-led approach to strengthening partnerships with the private sector and supporting construction companies in raising compliance levels and improving safety practices. This contributes positively to the quality of construction projects and the safety of workers and the community.
