Al Ain City Municipality has launched an extensive awareness campaign under the slogan “Safety in the Heat 2025,” in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center. This initiative coincides with the nationwide implementation of the “Midday Work Ban.”
The campaign aims to educate 10,000 workers about the risks of working in hot, exposed areas under direct sunlight during midday hours, as part of Al Ain City Municipality’s efforts to protect workers from heat stress and heat-related illnesses during the summer.
The campaign will run for three months, from 15 June to 15 September 2025. It will focus on the designated ban hours from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., when temperatures peak and the risk of heat stress is highest.
Dr. Ghoweia Hamid Al Nuaimi, Head of Awareness and Communication at the Environment, Health and Safety Department of Al Ain City Municipality, said this initiative reflects the Municipality’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment and ensuring the highest occupational safety standards. It also aims to raise community awareness about the importance of taking preventive measures during the hot summer months.
She explained that the campaign offers essential awareness programs to protect workers from heat stress and the risks of summer work. It seeks to promote a culture of heat safety and understanding of heat stress management programs at outdoor work sites. Additionally, it emphasizes the obligation of businesses to comply with the midday work ban law, provide a suitable and safe working environment, and encourage employers to offer self-training to ensure ongoing education and awareness.
The campaign includes a package of field and educational activities, such as distributing informational leaflets, organizing workshops and community events in cooperation with public and private sector partners, and conducting field inspections to ensure compliance with preventive measures and labor laws. Al Ain City Municipality also stresses employers’ responsibility to provide essential safety measures such as cooled water stations, shaded areas, and rest facilities for workers.
