The Veterinary Services Department at Al Ain City Municipality has announced its regulatory and public health achievements for the first half of 2026. During the reporting period, municipal slaughterhouses processed 196,223 livestock to serve more than 102,000 customers, while issuing 3,991 health certificates and rejecting 201 animals that failed to meet the approved health requirements.
In addition, the municipality’s pet and ornamental bird markets received 69,899 animals, while specialized inspection teams prevented 1,416 animals from entering the Central Livestock Market due to non-compliance with the approved veterinary standards.
Hassan Mohammed Al Kaabi, Acting Director of the Veterinary Services Department at Al Ain City Municipality, affirmed the municipality’s commitment to strengthening health compliance and safeguarding animal health through comprehensive veterinary inspection and monitoring programmes.
He explained that inspection teams carried out 4,988 inspection visits targeting livestock farms and animal retail outlets, alongside the implementation of 221 campaigns covering service delivery, regulatory inspection, and public awareness activities.
Al Kaabi added that the department also issued 2,938 veterinary certificates and completed veterinary procedures during the first half of the year. He noted that May recorded the highest number of livestock supplied to the markets, with more than 66,000 animals, followed by February and January.
