Al Ain Municipality, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, has launched the "Heat Safety 2026" campaign to raise awareness among more than 12,000 workers about the risks associated with working outdoors and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the summer months. The initiative forms part of the municipality's ongoing efforts to safeguard workers' health and wellbeing and reduce heat-related occupational risks.
The three-month campaign runs from 16 June to 15 September 2026 and focuses on promoting compliance with the UAE's midday work ban, which prohibits outdoor work between 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.—the period when temperatures are at their highest and the risk of heat stress and other heat-related illnesses is greatest.
Dr. Ghawiya Al Nuaimi, Head of the Awareness and Communication Section, said the campaign reflects Al Ain Municipality's commitment to fostering a safe and healthy working environment by strengthening preventive awareness and promoting best practices and approved occupational health and safety standards. She noted that these efforts contribute to protecting workers while enhancing quality of life across work sites.
Al Nuaimi explained that the campaign includes specialised awareness programmes designed to educate workers and employers about the dangers of heat stress and effective prevention measures. It also seeks to promote a strong culture of heat safety in workplaces, raise awareness of heat stress management programmes, and reinforce the importance of complying with the midday work ban while ensuring safe working conditions for employees.
The campaign also calls on employers to strengthen ongoing training and awareness programmes and provide appropriate protective measures and equipment, helping improve compliance with approved preventive procedures and reinforcing a culture of occupational health and safety throughout the summer season.
