Al Ain City Municipality launched the “Al Ain Retro” event at Al Dhahir Park, offering a unique experience aimed at reviving memories of the past in a contemporary style from 21 to 25 December. The event showcases aspects of life from the 1960s to the 1990s through a blend of art, culture, and entertainment.
The event aims to enhance awareness of Emirati popular culture, document social heritage for younger generations, and stimulate creativity and innovation by re-presenting heritage in a modern spirit. It also encourages community interaction with shared memories that form an essential part of national identity.
The event takes visitors on a time journey reflecting life during those decades through visual and musical performances, fashion displays, vintage technologies, and an exhibition featuring photographs, tools, and traditional toys that were popular at the time, offering a rich cultural experience that blends entertainment with knowledge.
Activities include screenings of classic films and television programs, a retro electronic games corner from the 1980s, Dukkan Al Tayyibeen, a classic photography corner, classic cars display, entertainment games and competitions evoking past memories, and a traditional food corner.
