Al Ain City Municipality has completed the development, maintenance, and rehabilitation works of Al Athar Street over a length of 1.7 kilometres. The project included comprehensive improvements such as renovating the road layers, upgrading traffic lanes, and constructing dedicated 3-meter-wide pedestrian and cycling tracks. In addition, aesthetic enhancements were implemented in accordance with environmental sustainability standards to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow in the area.
The project aims to promote active mobility, reduce traffic accidents, and improve the efficiency of traffic movement. It also enhances the visual and urban appeal of the area, increasing its attractiveness in line with the Abu Dhabi Government’s commitment to developing smart and integrated cities that meet the needs of residents and visitors and support daily mobility with greater comfort and quality. This contributes to the Emirate's vision of being among the best cities worldwide in terms of quality of life and sustainability.
Al Ain City Municipality continues to implement an integrated plan for road maintenance and enhancement through a series of development projects that strengthen the city's infrastructure, improve the performance and safety of road networks, facilitate traffic movement, and elevate the overall level of traffic service. All works are carried out in line with international best practices and standards to ensure road sustainability and provide the highest levels of safety for users, along with effective oversight that aligns with the requirements of sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Municipality has recently completed several related projects, including upgrading the pavement layers on the new truck route, developing external and urban roads in different areas of Al Ain, constructing new road layers, adding rest stops and parking areas for trucks, and improving stormwater drainage networks.
