“Hafeet Sports Challenge” competitions kicked off yesterday evening in Al Ain, with 1,560 players participating in football tournaments and 400 competitors in jiu-jitsu competitions. The event reflects significant development since its launch and reinforces its position as a community sports platform combining competition and professional organization.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Rashid Musabah Al Manai, Director General of Al Ain City Municipality, H.E. Salem Rashid bin Hadairam Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, and several officials from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Al Ain Sports Club.
The first day featured nine sports tournaments across different areas of the city, reflecting a strategic approach to expanding sports participation and community access. These included football, jiu-jitsu, basketball, cricket, volleyball, traditional games, and competitions for People of Determination.
Khalaf Salem Al Wahidi, Director of Events and Partnerships at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, stated that the challenge represents an advanced model of community sports initiatives that combine competition with the promotion of human values, within a distinctive Ramadan atmosphere reflecting community engagement in Al Ain.
