The activities of "Al Sarouj Park" in Al Ain City began yesterday and will continue until February 22nd, 2025. The event's launch was attended by Dr. Saif Sultan Al-Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Rashid Mubarak Al-Manei, Director-General of Al Ain City Municipality, and several officials and representatives from government institutions.
"Al Sarouj Park" is one of the initiatives adopted by Al Ain City Municipality to enhance the efficiency and management of assets, infrastructure, and public facilities, maintaining their effectiveness to enhance the appeal of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It also aims to improve the quality of life for the city's residents and ensure unique experiences for visitors.
Saeed Abdullah Al-Jabri, Head of the Facilities and Community Events Development Department, emphasized the municipality’s efforts to develop domestic tourism in the city by creating new destinations for organizing recreational events. He explained Al Sarouj Park includes the community market (Souq Sabe' Market) in addition to spaces for mobile camping caravans, 60 barbecue spots, a children's play area, a theater for various performances, folk arts, and competitions, along with many other services. The park, which spans 1.9 km along Khalid bin Sultan Street in Al Sarouj area, also offers heritage-style seating, shaded walking paths, and public facilities to serve visitors.
Al-Jabri stated: "The municipality worked on relocating Sabe' Market to its second version at Al Sarouj Park instead of the residential area to be closer to the residents." He clarified that the market will be held every Saturday during the specified period, with 200 tables displaying and selling products from local producers. The market, along with the accompanying ongoing events, will contribute to attracting more visitors and tourists to the region, enhancing its appeal as a unique tourist destination due to the availability of locally-made products with a heritage touch, in addition to encouraging small business owners to excel and innovate in establishing and developing their projects and products. It also aims to boost municipal presence, engage community members, and activate their role in developing and preserving the city.
Al-Jabri pointed out that Al Ain City Municipality has designated a location within Al Sarouj Park for camping and recreational vehicles, which is a distinctive and safe destination that adds to the entertainment and natural spots in Al Ain City. This site is considered an ideal place for camping experiences, as it accommodates 36 camping vehicles of various sizes, in addition to providing a variety of recreational, tourist activities, and basic services, making it the perfect spot for families and adventure lovers.
The municipality successfully rehabilitated Al Sarouj Forest within a short period, transforming it into a park with many areas dedicated to events, as well as paths, lighting, restrooms, parking spaces, and prayer areas for both men and women, turning it into a recreational spot that meets the community's needs and serves as a destination for relaxation and leisure.
