Al Ain City Municipality has completed a comprehensive project to develop and enhance road reserve fencing across both internal and external areas of Al Ain. This initiative forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to strengthen road infrastructure, improve quality of life, reduce risks posed by stray animals, and ensure the highest levels of safety and security for road users—while preserving the environment, biodiversity, and local wildlife.
Among the key roads included in the fence-upgrade works are Al Shuwaib Road, Al Rawdha Road, and Naama Road, being some of the most vital corridors in the region. These efforts reflect the Municipality’s commitment to implementing high-impact projects that enhance road efficiency and elevate traffic safety standards.
The road reserve fence serves as a protective barrier that prevents stray animals from crossing highways, directly contributing to improved road safety and a reduction in accidents. The project included rehabilitating 118 kilometres of deteriorated fencing, supplying and installing 256 kilometres of new fencing along major roads in the region, and adding 80 animal-crossing barriers to prevent camels and other stray animals from entering roadway paths.
